One of the “root causes” of workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents is the failure to identify or recognize hazards that are present, or that could have been anticipated. Therefore the implementation of Promotional activities for the Control of Occupational Hazards in the Context of Implementing Occupational Health and Safety Culture is the main thing for small, medium, and large-scale companies to apply to workers as a minimum standard of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

“In the proper use of PPE according to standard standards it is very important for workers to aim to increase the productivity of workers in carrying out their activities.

Public Work Sector

Therefore Guidelines for the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (K3) for Construction in the Public Works Sector, must also include requirements related to

  • 1. K3-L (occupational and environmental safety and health).
  • 2. Building safety.
  • 3. There is a possibility that in maintenance and maintenance, you have to repair or replace structural components, which may have an influence on the strength of the structure in other parts.

Forestry Sector

Forestry is a field of work that requires someone to go into the field and is very at risk of having an accident. Risks and hazards are two components related to work in the forestry sector and are difficult to avoid.

Throughout the world, there is often a tendency to underestimate the increase in the number of accidents and occupational diseases as well as the occurrence of early retirement among forestry workers.

However, the facts show that good occupational safety and health conditions in the forestry sector are something that is possible.

Many members recognize that safety at work is not only an ethical imperative but also means “money and feelings”. In the forestry sector, this is also a prerequisite for strong management and environmentally sound utilization of natural resources. It is very important that governments, companies, workers’ and employers’ organizations do something to make this happen.

Occupational accidents in timber harvesting activities are caused by many factors, including working environment conditions and human factors, such as workers. Safety in the forestry sector depends on matching individuals’ work capacities to the conditions under which they perform their tasks.

The closer the mental and physical requirements of the work approach the workers’ capacities (which, in turn, vary with age, experience, and health status), the less likely safety is to be sacrificed in an attempt to satisfy production goalsWhen individual capacities and working conditions are in a precarious balance, decreased individual and collective safety is inevitable.

Timber harvesting is a high-risk activity in terms of its stages, which are mostly carried out outdoors and involve various tools that require knowledge and skills in operation.

The terms hazard and risk are familiar terms in life. But sometimes, we often ignore these things because those two things are just a potential that doesn’t necessarily happen to us. Literally, the notion of hazard can be interpreted as a potential that arises as a result of human activities or activities that interact with machines and the environment that can cause harm, both material and non-material. Meanwhile, the risk is the size of the possibility that the potential hazard will occur.

A critical element of any effective safety and health program is a proactive, ongoing process to identify and assess such hazards.
